Dengue Management Infectious Disease CME Credits Online

Renewal and maintenance of Board certificates involves participation in the MOC (Maintenance of Certification) program, a periodic and cyclical process designed to evaluate and assess medical knowledge and clinical performance of practicing physicians.  The ultimate goal of constant assessment and skill upgrading is to improve health care delivery and optimize patient outcomes.  The MOC program is made up of different components that evaluate different aspects of clinical practice.  One of these components is concerned with lifelong learning, which involves regular participation in infectious disease CME courses and activities designed to provide updated and relevant information on the most recent trends and issues in contemporary medicine.

Continuing education courses are presented either through live activities such as medical conferences, seminars, symposia, panel discussions, etc., or through online programs that include webcasts, webinars, podcasts, slide show presentations, audio books, video commentaries, digital monographs, journal articles, and many more.  Infectious disease CME materials are provided for health care professionals in different formats in order to address varied learning needs.

Dengue: A Reemerging Concern for Travelers is a web-based infectious disease CME program intended for the benefit of internists, infectious disease specialists, and other medical practitioners currently engaged in the care of patients afflicted with dengue virus.  This course is designed to provide updates on the effective and accurate diagnosis of dengue among patients with fever.  The activity is based on a journal article from the Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine, and includes a post-test and evaluation as prerequisites for credit certification.

In order to claim credits for this activity, participants must first open and read the journal article, take down important notes if they wish, and then advance to the continuing education posttest.  After completing the exam, they can proceed to filling out the evaluation forms.  Unregistered users will be redirected to a registration page before they take the posttest.  Personalized CME certificates will be available shortly after.

Dengue: A Reemerging Concern for Travelers was originally released on the web on July 1, 2012 and will continue to be available for infectious disease CME credits until June 30, 2013.  The course has been approved for a maximum of one (1) AMA PRA (American Medical Association Physician’s Recognition Award) Category 1 Credits.  Participating health care providers are expected to claim only the number of CME credits commensurate with the extent of their involvement in the online course.
